NIGERIANS have been urged show commitment and patriotism to overcome the series of challenges that has bedevilled the nation since it gain her independence.
This call was made by Prince Tobi Dafe who identified some of the challenges to the the mistake of past leaders that are currently staring the nation.
Tobi Dafe identified Nigeria as a nation that is saddle with corruption and contentment that has eaten it so hard.
According to him, “Since the independence of our beloved nation Nigeria, we have had series of challenges on how to sail the ship in the right direction.
“Some things we got right, others will got wrong, but one thing is certain the wrongs seem more than the rights and it is just that the mistakes of past leadership are staring at us today.
“The two major problems the leadership of our country has today are ‘corruption and contentment’ refer to them as the 2Cs where one is a virus and the other is an antidote.
“Most politicians start with good intentions but at some point, the pressure and demands compels them to get their hands dirty with taxpayers’ money.
“The number of significant achievements we have had since 1999 to date is telecommunications industry, improved internet, infrastructures to mention a few.
“But it is disheartening that since, 2024 we are still experiencing epileptic power supply, even children born after changing the name from NEPA to PHCN still shout “up Nepa.”
Speaking further he held that,  the security architecture has gone from bad to worse, people now move with fear, as our farmers can seldom go to their farms without the fear of being killed or kidnapped.
“We need to allow meritocracy to thrive for nation-building as it will propel our children, the youths to consistently add value to themselves.
“We need to understand that ideas rules the world hence the need for smart leaders to engage the best brains to deliver.
“We have lost too much as a Nation due to bad governance and at this point, we can no longer afford any expensive mistakes that would further cripple the country.
“Nigeria is a blessed country with lots of mineral resources, not to mention her intelligent citizens, but do we have the right pegs in the right holes? Am sure we can answer for ourselves.
“And the time has come for Nigerians to start thinking about what we can do for Nigeria over and above what Nigeria can do for us, we must at this point come up with smart ideas on how to get it right.
“If we must be truthful to ourselves the government can not do it alone, we all have a role to play and patriotism is paramount at this point.
“Government should not always wait for labour to go on strike before doing the needful, I think we can do better than that. I am sure we can.”
